Removable Retainer
Orthodontist
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of irregularities in the alignment of one's teeth and jaws. The goal of orthodontic treatment is to properly position the teeth in the mouth, improve the functioning of the bite, and improve one's appearance. Treatment involves the use of specialized appliances, such as braces or aligners, which are used to apply force to the teeth in order to move them into the desired position.

Removable Retainer
A removable retainer is a dental appliance that is worn after orthodontic treatment (such as braces) to help maintain the position of the teeth. The retainer is custom-made to fit the patient’s mouth and is typically worn at night or as directed by the orthodontist. The retainer is removable and can be taken out for eating, brushing, and flossing.

After the completion of orthodontic treatment
The orthodontist will remove the braces or aligners and will take an impression or digital scan of your teeth to create a custom-made retainer.

Fabrication of the retainer
Using the impressions or digital scans, the lab will create a custom-made retainer that will fit your teeth perfectly.

Fitting of the retainer
The orthodontist will check the fit of the retainer and make any necessary adjustments.

Instructions for wearing
The orthodontist will give you instructions on how to wear the retainer and how often to wear it. Typically, the retainer is worn at night, but in some cases it may be worn during the day as well.

Follow-up visits
The orthodontist will schedule regular follow-up visits to check the fit and position of the retainer and to make any necessary adjustments.

Wearing the retainer
You will wear the retainer as directed by the orthodontist. It's important to wear the retainer as directed in order to maintain the results of the orthodontic treatment.

Cleaning and maintenance
You will need to clean the retainer regularly, as directed by the orthodontist. You should also bring it to your regular check-up appointment to make sure that it is still fitting well and to check for any wear and tear.
